Brookfield Zoo - Zebra

Brookfield Zoo has two types of Zebras, Grevy's which are large and slim and have white bellies and Grant's which are shorter and stokier with stripes all the way around their bellies. The Zebra shown here is a Grant's Zeebra.

  3. Thank you both. I love zebras. They are like horses kind of but wild and striped.

  4. Not sure about the Grant's but the Grevy's zebra descended from the wild ass and the common zebra (Plain's zebra) descended from the wild horse. The Grevy's is extremely endangered with just a small population left in Northern Kenya and Somalia.

  5. T.R. Thanks for the great info on Zebra's. I have a photo of a Grevy's Zebra on my Flickr page. I would love to be able to go to Africa and see them in the wild.
